How We Hire, Train, and Support Our Team
Many pet care platforms connect clients with independent caregivers. We take a different approach. Our employee-based structure helps create consistency, accountability, communication, and support throughout the care experience.
How We Hire
We look for people who genuinely love animals and are comfortable working inside clients' homes. Every applicant goes through an application review, a phone screen, and at least one in-person interview with our office team — where we weigh real-world judgment, communication, reliability, and fit with our values before anyone moves forward.
Onboarding & Shadowing
No one goes straight from "you're hired" to your front door. New hires complete paperwork, policy reviews, and safety training first, then shadow seasoned team members on real visits — learning exactly how we handle doors and leashes, follow detailed instructions, manage keys and lockboxes, and communicate with clients.
Ongoing Training & Review
Training doesn't stop after the first week. Our office checks in regularly, reviews visit notes, and spot-checks performance in the field — covering pet behavior, medication reminders, home security, and what to do if something seems "off." When we spot a way to improve, we coach quickly, so small things never become big ones.
Employees, Not Contractors
All of our caregivers are W-2 employees, not independent contractors.
We converted from independent contractors to W-2 employees in 2010, well before it was common in this industry. It cost more. It was the right call, and it is the reason we can train, supervise, and stand behind every visit.
That lets us hire carefully, train thoroughly, set clear expectations, and provide real supervision — plus backup coverage when life happens. You get a dedicated person your pets know and love, backed by a team that's accountable for every visit.
